Brown Sugar, How Come You Taste So Good?

We haven’t done a Recipe Roundup in a while- so I hope to make it up to you with a sweet post today: our theme is Brown Sugar, a wonderful ingredient whose caramelly goodness can add all sorts of yum to your dishes:

Toffee Blondie Bites

Sticky Gooey Creamy Chewy puts the toffee element of brown sugar front and center with these “bites”. Because brown sugar contains molasses, it also tends to make baked goods chewy- so you can just imagine how delicious these bites are.

Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Is it a side dish, or is it dessert? You might think that the sweetness of sweet potatoes plus brown sugar would make for a toothaching dish, but with the headiness of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger, this is a wonderfully savoury recipe.

Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

This one, of all, deserved a photo (source: the little red house). Just look at it: creamy, smooth deliciousness, made with the simplest of ingredients: eggs, vanilla, cream, and- of course- lovely brown sugar.

Finally, here’s a tip:

When you run out of brown sugar, simply mix together one cup of white granulated sugar with one tablespoon molasses- and voila! Instant brown sugar.
